Suet is a high-energy pure fat substance which certain birds enjoy year-round. It is generally served in specially designed Suet Feeders. Wild Birds Unlimited Suets and Suet Doughs are produced from the highest quality beef kidney fat, which is an extremely high-calorie energy source of food for wild birds. All of our Suets and Suet Doughs have been rendered and refined to remove the impurities that can cause spoilage. Our WBU Suets have a melting poit of 95 degrees, allowing you to ofer them throughout most of the year. When hot weather strikes, switch to our WBU Suet Doughs. These are designed to take the heat and will not melt. With our WBU Suets and WBU Suet Doughs, you can feed your suet-eating birds year-round, easily and safely.
Suet is primarily consumed by birds whose diets contain a large number of insects. Around here woodpeckers, chickadees, nuthatches, and titmice are the most frequent visitors to suet feeders. During spring migration, we may see catbirds, orioles, pine warblers, Carolina wrens, and other migrants taking advantage of suet feeders, particularly if these birds are moving through during a cold snap.
Here is a sample of some of the suet products that we have. Stop in today to see all the varieties of suet we carry.
Our most popular variety of suet! The high energy of suet is combined with the proteins found in peanuts to create a feast that your suet-loving birds cannnot resist! Available year-round as a suet and during the summer as a suet dough.
Calcium is mixed with suet to provide birds with this important mineral during the nesting season. It is important for birds to get enough calcium to produce strong eggshells. Available in the spring.
Serve these tasty treats in our WBU Dinner Bell, WBU Supper Dome, or any Hanging Tray feeder and watch the birds come flocking. These nuggets combine suet with peanuts and raisins. Catbirds, Robins, and Eastern Bluebirds may consume these along with your normal suet-eating birds.
Suet Plugs are formed cylinders of suet that are designed to go into Suet Log Feeders or our WBU Supper Dome. A No-melt variety is available in the summertime.
